VIERA, Fla. -- With a nine-run eighth inning, the Nationals came back from a three-run deficit and defeated the Astros, 14-9, at Space Coast Stadium on Monday afternoon. Washington improved to 5-3, while Houston dropped to 2-8.
Astros left-hander Patrick Urckfitz was on the mound when the Nats erupted in the eighth. Brian Bixler tied the score at 8 with a three-run double and Rick Ankiel followed with a two-run homer to take the two-run lead.
The Nationals would add four runs in the inning off reliever Jorge De Leon, two coming on Bryce Harper's double. CONTINUE....
