Gorzelanny Contains Mets In Defeat

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Luis Castillo's forgettable Tuesday night did not hurt the Mets in a 5-2 win over the Nationals.

In addition to finishing 0-for-3 with two popups, Castillo -- who is battling Luis Hernandez, Daniel Murphy, Brad Emaus and Justin Turner for the starting second-base job -- did not cover first base on a potential double-play ball in the second inning. Though that play extended a Nationals rally, the Mets plated three runs of their own to take the lead in the sixth, scoring on Jason Bay's RBI single and Ike Davis' two-run double. CONTINUE....
