WASHINGTON -- Ryan Zimmerman will be with the Nationals for a while. The third baseman agreed to a contract extension on Sunday, according to a high ranking team official. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Washington could make an announcement as early as Monday.
Team president Stan Kasten and agent Brodie Van Wagenen have been working on a new deal for Zimmerman since March 1, the day Jim Bowden resigned as the club's general manager.
Kasten and Van Wagenen did not return phone messages.
