By Gene Duffey / Special to MLB.com

HOUSTON -- Adam Dunn, who was born in Houston and grew up an hour north in Porter, Texas, celebrated his return home in style on Monday at Minute Maid Park.

Dunn drilled a three-run double to the base of the bullpen in right field off Houston ace Roy Oswalt in the third inning to ignite the Nationals to a 14-4 win over the Astros.

Making his fifth and most likely second-to-last start in Triple-A for the Syracuse Chiefs, Strasburg was touched for three runs on six hits in five innings against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees Saturday night at Alliance Bank Stadium.

Nationals have no trouble with Giants ace

By Bill Ladson / MLB.com

SAN FRANCISCO -- On paper, it looked like the Nationals would have a tough time at AT&T Park on Wednesday night. After all, they were facing Giants right-hander Tim Lincecum, the two-time Cy Young Award winner.

If the Nationals couldn't beat right-hander Todd Wellemeyer, San Francisco's fifth starter, on Tuesday, why would one believe they would beat Lincecum?

But the Nationals had an easy time of it and pounded the Giants, 7-3. Washington is now 24-23 for the season. Last year, the club didn't win its 24th game until July 4.

On cusp of callup, Strasburg braced for hype

Strasburg allows first runs of Triple-A career

By Matt Michael / Special to MLB.com

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Even when he's not at his best, Stephen Strasburg makes his bosses smile.

Strasburg faced adversity for the first time in his brief Triple-A career on Monday night, and team president Stan Kasten was impressed with the way the young right-hander handled it. Strasburg made adjustments to improve his curveball and changeup, limited the damage against the Toledo Mud Hens to two runs and showed his competitive side when he balked at being removed after five innings and 52 pitches.
