By Bill Ladson / MLB.com

VIERA, Fla. -- The Nationals traded center fielder Nyjer Morgan to the Brewers for infield prospect Cutter Dykstra and cash considerations on Sunday morning. The deal was finalized Saturday night.

The news comes two days after Morgan said he didn't fit in with the Nationals, comments that disappointed manager Jim Riggleman.

General manager Mike Rizzo said Morgan's comments to MLB.com had nothing to do with the transaction. CONTINUE....

Nationals lose game, tempers in Miami

By Charlie Nobles / Special to MLB.com

MIAMI -- Manager Jim Riggleman went into Wednesday night's game expecting the Marlins to hit Nyjer Morgan with a pitch in retaliation for the home-plate collision on Tuesday that injured catcher Brett Hayes.

And after Morgan was hit in the fourth inning of an eventual 16-10 Nationals loss at Sun Life Stadium, Riggleman asked his team leaders if they wanted to retaliate.

"They told me, 'Naw, it's over,' " Riggleman said in the quiet of his clubhouse office. "Well, when they throw at him a second time, then it's not over."

Nats rally in ninth, but can't hold off Astros

By Gene Duffey / Special to MLB.com

HOUSTON -- Nationals closer Matt Capps thought he had the Astros' Lance Berkman struck out to end the game. So did manager Jim Riggleman. Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, too.

Instead, third-base umpire Bill Hohn called it a checked swing on Berkman, making the count 2-2, and Berkman lined the next pitch from Capps into left field, scoring two runs to beat the Nationals, 8-7, on Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park.
