Zimmermann Impressive In Spring Debut

By Matthew Leach / MLB.com

JUPITER, Fla. -- Washington right-hander Jordan Zimmermann was sharp, but received no decision in his 2011 Spring Training debut as a Cardinals split squad beat the Nationals, 7-5, at Roger Dean Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Zimmermann, beginning his first full season back after Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery, pitched three shutout innings and departed the game with a 2-0 lead. He allowed four hits, struck out one and walked one, throwing 28 of his 43 pitches for strikes.
